Excavation at Cwmffwrn 2024

This grant will enable us to work alongside Trysor archaeological and heritage services to gain a greater understanding of the history of our Welsh uplands, the rich history of the countryside, which is an important part of the story of Wales.

We will be investigating archaeological remains relating to settlement and farming spanning a millennia and offering a fascinating insight into how generations of people survived in this harsh landscape.

We wish to thank Ian and Angela Lewis for allowing us to hold an excavation at their farm at Cwmffwrn.  This will be held between Friday 12th July and Monday 15th July.  Public days will be Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th. The excavation this year will follow a very successful exploratory excavation in 2023. More information related to this can be found here.

If you wish to express an interest in taking part in the excavation this year then please email Jackie at cwmhirabbey@gmail.com.

More information will be provided about this activity in due course.
