Abbeycwmhir Community Heritage Walks were launched in September 2021.
Route descriptions for the range of walks are available. These walks range from a local walk around the Village with accompanying heritage information, to our longest walk which is approximately 7 miles with 1000ft of ascent
Route descriptions for our Community Walks can be found here

The walk leaflets are excellent. A good map, clear instructions and interesting local information. Thank you!
Thank you very much for your feedback and we hope you have enjoyed some of the walks
Photo from Jill Willey. View on Great Park walk towards Radnor Forest
Jill Willey from the Wednesday Walkers lead a walk recently that combined the Great Park and Llywy Hill walks (yellow and pink on the map and waymarking). She reported that they thoroughly enjoyed the walks which jointly made a good 6 mile hike. She has kindly sent some photos which I am attaching.
This is a good walk but the only improvement I would suggest is to replace the one difficult stile where you enter the forestry with a gate, or at least add a dog gate so that dog walkers could use the path without having to lift their dog(s) over the stile.
Hello Keith. I think you are referring to a location on the Cwmhir Heritage Walk. We will have a discussion about whether a change can be made there. Thanks for your comment.
Good walk and views but a bit muddy and slippy in places. Somewhere to sit and have lunch would be good.
Thank you for your comment Anthony. Congrats to all the Mid Wales Walkers for doing the walk on a day with quite challenging weather. If we were to get the resources and permissions to place a picnic bench on the route – is there any location that you would favour?
