On-line talk: Thursday 12th December at 7.30pm
The importance of a place within Welsh cultural consciousness does not always equate with the magnificence of its standing architecture. Some of the most important historical sites are small, visually discrete, privately owned and hidden from view. Their conservation is, nonetheless, of fundamental importance. This talk will describe a project to conserve some of these iconic places, including the remains of the abbey at Cwmhir.
Sian Rees worked as an Inspector of Ancient Monuments for Cadw and was responsible for organising a project on the conservation of sites of cultural importance in Wales. She is Chair of Cambrian Archaeological Association and a Trustee of Heneb.
